I’ve been spending some time and energy on my bedroom lately. No longer just a space to store clothes and sleep, I’m creating somewhere restful and pretty, where I can feel good about myself, feel creative, and actually relax. But I’m no expert, and I could definitely use some inspiration for how to get the most out of the space.

To help, Laura Burnett, a bedroom expert from Feather & Black, sent me her five top interior trends that will be staples of bedroom design in the coming months to help create a harmonious, aesthetically pleasing, and practical haven.

Bedroom Interior Design Trends

Wooden accents

Rural stylistic theme is a straightforward yet exemplary style decision for rooms. Since December 2022, Pinterest searches for “rustic bedroom” have increased by 203 percent, much to the delight of interior enthusiasts.

The bedroom’s wooden accents are incredibly elegant and warm, and rustic weathered oak is the ultimate in luxury. Weathered oak is the ideal choice for understated sophistication because of its gentle neutrality. Wooden accents add refinement to any rustic bedroom, whether you fall in love with a stunning, weathered oak bed or an utterly stylish bedside table.

Farmhouse Style

The farmhouse style brings the wooden, rustic look to life. Over the past three months, Pinterest searches for “farmhouse décor” have increased by 63% worldwide, indicating the style’s growing popularity. The ascent in interest has been credited to the mix of a rural style and contemporary excellence that farmhouses offer.

Start with soft, light tones for your curtains, a rug or carpet, or your bedding to incorporate this style into your living room, and then add darker, wooden tones to furniture components.

Rattan

The rattan style has been consistently filling as of late, with looks for ‘rattan furniture’ rising 316%. Rattan furniture, whether it’s a bed, side table, or wardrobe, has a natural texture that can make your space look better. It is a popular choice for many due to its comforting warmth and soft tones.

Accent wall

Indulging in an accent wall in your bedroom has a long-lasting appeal thanks to its colorful splashes, intricate wall panelling, and beautifully stenciled design. In fact, Pinterest has seen a 69% increase in interest in accent walls over the past three months.

Emphasize walls permit you to communicate your most genuine style without focusing on a full change. The almost limitless configurations of wall paneling, moulding, and cladding that can accommodate a variety of interior styles are wonderful innovations in this trend.

Why not seize the opportunity to include built-in conveniences at the bedside? Mood lighting or helpful USB ports add a bit of richness to your sleep time schedule, without the concern of unattractive wires. Add dimension and warmth to the paneling by covering it in irresistibly warm vanilla tones once it has taken shape.

1970s Style

Oh, the 1970s. Interior design is firmly on the rise as well as clothing and fashion are experiencing a revival of this retro trend. According to Pinterest Trends, there has been a 78% increase in bedroom-related terms from the 1970s.

Succulent earth tones are a crucial part of this trend, especially when paired with patterned and textured colors. Warm browns, muted oranges, deep greens, and rich greens instantly evoke feelings of nostalgia. These colors look great with wood accents that feel good, like shiplap or rattan.

For unrestrained 70s style, combine these toasty, warm elements with fringed curtains, cushions, or lampshades and gold accents.

Conclusion

I love our floral turquoise accent wall behind our bed. Against the mostly cream and simple style of the room, it’s a lovely pop of colour that is calming and pretty. I’m definitely drawn to the farmhouse and rustic styling tips too, so I’ll be on the lookout for accessories and furnishings to work that look in my bedroom!

What about you? Which bedroom styling tips would work in your room?
