I love a beach. I love the sand under my feet, the sound of the waves, and all the digging, splashing fun that my children can have. I’ve written before about how much I would like to be able to afford to travel, to take my children on a holiday, and explore the amazing world we live in.

The smartest and most affordable travel opportunities would be to stick to Europe, and I’d be excited to see what our own country has to offer. But which are the best beaches to visit?

Experts at Europe Yachts sent over research into the best beaches in Europe, as ranked by Trip Advisor, to help me work out where to put on my travel-to-do list.

The Best Beaches In Europe

The top beaches in Europe, as determined by data gathered by luxury yacht company Europe Yachts, include three British beaches: Fistral Beach, Gorleston-on-Sea Beach, and Weymouth Beach.

Europe Yachts used 30 of TripAdvisor’s most popular European beaches to collect the data. The total number of reviews was used to calculate the percentage of five-star or “excellent” reviews, which were then arranged in order of highest to lowest percentage.

Spiaggia Dei Conigli

Praia dos Tres Irmaos

Praia dos Tres Irmaos in Alvor, Portugal, comes in second place with 79.9% of TripAdvisor reviews favorable. This stunning beach is famous for its spectacular rock formations and hidden caves. It is in the Algarve, in southern Portugal. The three distinct rocks that span the beach gave it its English name, which translates to “beach of the three brothers.”

Playa de Ses Illetes

Playa de Ses Illetes in Formentera, Spain, is the third-best beach in Europe, with 78.9% of reviews giving it five stars. The beach is in Formentera, which is on the Balearic Islands of Spain. It is also part of the Formentera Natural Park, which is known for its stunning beauty and pink beaches.

Sarakiniko Beach and Balos Lagoon

Sarakiniko Beach and Balos Lagoon, both in Greece, received high marks as well, with 75.1 and 72% of five-star reviews, respectively. Greece is well-known for its stunning beaches, which can be found on 227 different islands. Over 34 million people visit Greece annually, making it one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, according to WorldData data.

Reynisfjara Beach

Reynisfjara Beach in Iceland, known for its black sand, received 73.9% of excellent TripAdvisor reviews. Frequently viewed as one of the world’s most one of a kind and surprising sea shores, the dark sand was made by volcanic magma, which has solidified and become dark. The beach is in the south of Iceland, about three hours from Reykjavik, the country’s capital.

The UK has more than 1,500 sea shores, extending north of 19,000 miles through and through (counting islands) and containing a different assortment of sandy bays in each district of the country. Fistral Ocean side, in Newquay, Cornwall, is likewise noted as one the best sea shores for riding all over Europe.

Europe’s Beaches

Different sea shores on the rundown are Sotavento Ocean side, Spain, Iztuzu Ocean side, Turkey, Fig Tree Cove, Cyprus and Plage du Sillon, France.

A representative for Europe Yachts explained that Europe is home to some of the world’s most stunning beaches. Every kind of beach can be found all over Europe, from the Mediterranean and Greece’s crystal-clear waters to Iceland’s stunning shorelines. Plenty can be found, whether you’re looking for a family vacation, a surfer’s paradise, or a romantic getaway.

Conclusion

I have hopes and dreams for a future where I can see the world and experience the beauty of our planet, but that feels far away if possible. However, visiting our own coast looks like something I could work towards much more easily, and it’s exciting to know that three of our own beaches are ranked amongst the best!
