To help me out, fashion experts at Boohoo have sent over their analysis of Google data to reveal the hottest fashion trends to follow this Valentine’s and Galentine’s Day and how to style them for this love-filled occasion. 

Best Valentines Day Fashion Trends

Heart Print

To fully embrace Valentine’s Day, incorporate heart prints and patterns into your look to make a statement while you celebrate with your date or best friends.

To steal the show, wear a heart print dress that complements your personal style or is a step outside of your comfort zone on this special night. This look is clearly a popular choice among fashionistas this season, with UK Google searches for ‘heart dress’ soaring by 79% in the last 12 months.

Pair the dress with simple heels for an elegant touch or opt for chunky boots for a more relaxed look.  

Red

From scarlet to cherry hues, be bold this Valentine’s Day to showcase your romantic and most confident side with your hot date.

If heart print isn’t your style, try a textured dress in this colour of love, such as a red lace dress or a flowing red maxi dress. Red has been the hottest colour since last year and the trend isn’t going anywhere, with worldwide Google searches for ‘red lace dress’ surging by 55% in the past year.  

To add even more allure to your Valentine’s ensemble, try matching your lipstick or lip gloss to the shade of red of your dress. Don’t forget to reapply your chosen colour in between eating and drinking to ensure that you’re camera ready for those Valentine’s Day picture-perfect moments.  

Frills

Texture has been a hot trend through 2023 and is continuing this year with fashion enthusiasts experimenting with lace, layering, and mesh. In particular, ‘frilly tops’ are in right now, with worldwide Google searches increasing by a significant 64% in the past 30 days.

Pair a frilly top with equally bold jewellery to feel your most confident and fun self on Valentine’s Day. Alternatively, balance the frills with dainty gold or silver jewellery to focus all attention on the flirty textured attire.  

Heels

You’ll be feeling red carpet-ready if you complete your Valentine’s Day date night look with the perfect pair of heels. To complement your dress or to glam up a more casual Valentine’s outfit, low or high heels with a bow detail are the hottest option, especially if the bow is sparkly. With Google searches for ‘bow heels’ increasing by 217% in the last 12 months in the UK, be sure to not miss out on this trend.  

Alternatively, try a pair of block heels to coordinate with your outfit; worldwide Google searches for ‘baby pink heels’ have exploded by 78% in the last 30 days, giving you the perfect opportunity to add a soft and more subtle touch to your look, whilst also looking fabulous.

In contrast, if you want your shoes to make a statement in your look, try a stand-out heel, such as ‘hot pink heels’, since their Google search volume has soared by 54% in the past 30 days in the UK.  

Loungewear

What could be more adorable than matching pyjamas with your date or your best friends on Valentine’s Day? After your romantic date or cosy date night in, the perfect way to round off this special day is to wear some red, pink, or heart-print pyjamas that match whoever you’re with.

In the UK, ‘heart pyjamas’ have skyrocketed by a staggering 1076% in Google searches in the last 12 months, signifying the popularity of this Valentine’s Day trend. Don’t forget to take pictures in your matching loungewear to celebrate your love and remember this love-filled day.
