On the JJ Barnes Blog, I check out a follow-up service, launched by Claire Brewerton and her team at the Virtual Business Centre, for busy business owners who find it difficult to respond to inquiries or phone calls.

Our business is small, but growing fast, and increasingly busy. With all the work that needs doing, combined with life responsibilities, it is really challenging to keep up with all the correspondance that needs sorting out each day. I’m always looking for things like Squadhelp that can help small businesses achieve more.

So, when I saw details of a follow-up service designed to take some of the pressure off exhausted entrepreneurs, I had to check it out.

“It’s a real issue for many business owners, particularly solo entrepreneurs, who have to fulfil every role within their own enterprise,” Claire Brewerton explained. “They often cannot keep on top of following up on phone calls, emails, social media messages from people who probably want to work with them – yet they cannot find the time to respond in a timely manner and these organic business opportunities are lost.

“This is not about cold-calling prospective clients. Many good business people have inquiries coming through regularly yet they simply don’t have time to follow up and build those solid relationships. That’s where we can come in and we can book in those telephone conversations or meetings while ensuring that potential clients are being heard and valued. We can even book in meetings six months or a year in advance if a business owner is booked up for months ahead.”

Helping Business

Claire has 20 employees who can assist business owners in organizing their calendars and preventing them from becoming overwhelmed. She has been working with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for more than 20 years from her purpose-built location near Swindon.

Some industries are well-known for never returning calls from customers, which appears to be poor customer service. These include micro businesses like self-employed plumbers, heating engineers, carpenters, and electricians, as well as small construction companies with fewer than three employees.

“The truth is for some small business owners, inquiries come in and are not responded to at all so business is lost from the outset,” said Claire. “In a cost of living crisis when we are all going to have to work harder, this is something to look at and invest in. It keeps your sales pipeline flowing and offers excellent customer service.”
