I’m on the lookout for a new home, somewhere I can start over with my daughters and create a new life. I’ve got lots of things I need to consider, front and centre being cost of course, but also things such as proximity to school, being on a bus route, and a kitchen I feel comfortable cooking in. However, a big consideration for any home I move to is an outdoor space, because my girls love being in the fresh air, and sitting outside in the summer with music playing and food on the BBQ is one of my absolute favourite ways to spend my time.

To help me work out how to get the most out of any outdoor space I get, Zara O’Hare, interior design expert at Land of Rugs, sent over her invaluable tips and insights for how I can transform my outdoor space to get the most of it for myself and my children.

Outdoor Space

Summer is a time for enjoying the outdoors, and having an outdoor space to relax in can make all the difference. Whether you have a small patio or a large backyard, there are many ways to make your outdoor space a oasis of relaxation.

Here are a few reasons why it’s nice to have an outdoor space to relax in during the summer:

  • Fresh air and sunshine: Spending time in the fresh air and sunshine is good for your physical and mental health. It can help to improve your mood, boost your energy levels, and reduce stress.
  • A break from the heat: If you live in a hot climate, having an outdoor space to relax in can provide a much-needed break from the heat. You can cool off in the shade, enjoy a refreshing drink, or take a dip in the pool.
  • A place to entertain: If you enjoy hosting guests, having an outdoor space is the perfect place to do it. You can have cookouts, barbecues, or game nights without having to worry about making a mess inside your home.
  • A place to get some peace and quiet: If you need a place to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, an outdoor space is the perfect solution. You can read a book, listen to music, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
  • A place to connect with nature: Spending time in nature has been shown to have a number of benefits for our physical and mental health. Having an outdoor space to relax in can help you to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of the world around you.

If you’re looking for a way to make the most of your summer, consider creating an outdoor space to relax in. It’s a great way to enjoy the benefits of the outdoors and create a space where you can unwind and de-stress.
